I'm kicking off the relaunch of my blog with two super easy, yet striking makeup looks for New Year's Eve!
There's nothing better than getting dressed up for a special evening with my girlfriends and NYE is always the perfect occasion for throwing on some music, with prosecco flowing and experimenting with current makeup trends! So today I'll be talking you through how to recreate the ombre-statement lip trend and the festive smokey eye.
Statement Ombre Lip
If you're ever unsure of what beauty look to go for, a statement lip will always be a winner. I used my current favourite red liquid lipstick by Kat Von D in the shade Outlaw, all over my lips. Once dry, I took a lipstick slightly darker with more purple undertones, this time Charlotte Tilbury's Hot Lips Lipstick in Hel's Bells, and using a thin brush, applied this to the around the edge of my lips. This can take some time to perfect, but it's striking and makes an impact which is what you want for NYE!
I teamed it with my usual brown smoky eye and this makeup obviously wouldn't be complete without some contour. I used my Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick to contour and my favourite Urban Decay Highlighter in Sin to complete the look. Perfume of choice for the evening will be Dolce & Gabana Pour Femme; a sweet oriental fragrance consisting of vanilla, jasmine & raspberry notes.
The Festive Smokey Eye
You guys know how much I adore a smokey eye and so this post wouldn't be complete without a festive take on it. I chose a metallic green eyeshadow from the Sleek Hidden Gems eyeshadow palette (an absolute gem (ha) of a product, proving you don't need to spend lots for show stopping looks) and built the colour up with a flat eyeshadow brush until I reached my desired pigment. I took a fluffy blending brush to soften the edges before applying falsies and lashes of my current favourite mascara by Marc Jacobs.
