October Beauty, Books & Music Favourites!

I found it quite difficult to narrow down my favourite’s this month to a select few bits because I’ve discovered and been using so many great products!  I’ve rounded just why I love everything in a video which you can watch below, but also typed up a few lines about each here too!

October Beauty, Book and Music favs!

MAC Lipstick in Kinda Sexy: I reviewed this a year ago but said I didn’t like it that much (you can read my review here).  However, this is the only lipstick I have worn all month.  It’s a beautiful matte pink nude which compliments my pale skin perfectly!  It still may be a little Pamela Anderson-ish, but I’ve grown to love it.

Maybelline BrowDrama Mascara: I’ve become quite stuck in a rut recently with my brows; I pluck occasionally, sweep the tiniest bit of powder through them and give them a quick comb every morning and then it’s done.  I probably don’t give them as much attention ass I should but I recently got my hands on this and it has become an everday essential.  I comb now brows through with this tinted brow gel (in the perfect shade) which leaves them looking super groomed and polished!

By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder: This is ultra-pricy and luxurious but has completely got me hooked.  I have never experienced a product like this!  It is a really finely milled translucent powder which when swept over the face, leaves me with an almost airbrushed, blurred finish.  It mattes my skin perfectly, makes it feel silky soft to touch and leaves me looking flawless, I can’t rave about this enough.

Bumble & Bumble Invisible Hair Oil: You all know I’m a massive hair oil fan and this is what I’ve used the most recently.  This oil smells divine and doesn’t leave my hair looking greasy and feeling dirty.  Instead it makes my hair much more manageable and easier to brush after washing as well as making it look healthier by adding a hint of shine!

Imperial Leather Foam Burst Shower Foam in Spicy Ginger & Orange: I’m not one to rave about shower gels as I can’t usually use them (I have super sensitive skin) but I’ve recently this new range and it has made shower time a whole lotta fun.  I demo this in the video above, but once pumped out, this gel turns into an incredible smelling foam which makes shaving super easy and leaves me smelling great.  This fragrance is perfect for autumn/winter and I can’t wait to try more of these!

Neutral Daily Look With Bobbi Brown!

I haven’t been able to stop raving about the Bobbi Brown Chocolate Collection recently, so I decided to create a look using solely those products!

LOOKBOBBI BROWN CHOCOLATEBOBBI LIPSTICKLOOK2step by step bobbi brown2
Tutorial
1) Use Bittersweet Chocolate Cream Eyeshadow on the eyelid and also run beneath lower lashes.
2) Sweep the white shadow all over the eye, up to the brow bone and blend in with the cream shadow.
3) Use the Chocolate Gel Liner to line eyes and create a flick.
4) Line waterline with a black or brown liner, also smudge underneath lower lash line.
5) Smudge some more brown shadow underneath the lower lash line.
6) Apply coatings of mascara, I used the Bobbi Brown Chocolate Mascara & Magnifibres.
7) Apply some dark shadow on top of the gel liner to help stay in place longer
8 & 9) Apply a sweep of blusher and lipstick!  I used the Baby Pink Lipstick & Blusher from the range.

I hope the above steps make sense!  You can find my full review of the range here!  If you would like to see any other looks with this palette or range just let me know!

Simple Skincare–4 Step Regime Review!

I’ll let you into a little secret here; Simple was the first skincare brand I ever properly used.  When I got to around the age of 16, I started using a Simple Cleanser to take my eyeliner and mascara off and it always did a wonderful job.  I used it for about 3 years until I was around 19 when I started becoming a little obsessed with beauty and experimented with different products.  Simple are now promoting a new 4 step regime which every girl should use to compliment her skin type; I’ve been testing out some of the range and have picked out my favs to review for you below!

SIMPLE2simple1
Simple-Logo
The 4 skincare regime steps are: Deep Cleanser, Polish, Treat & Protect.
Deep Cleanse –Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion: I can’t stress how much of an easy and lovely job this does of removing my eye makeup.  I simply pop some of this cream cleanser onto some cotton pads, leave them on my eyes for 15 seconds or so and then use to remove the product.  This really is kind to my skin, leaving it soft and comfortable (it doesn’t make my skin feel tight or make my eyes sting at all).
Polish – Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner: The next step in the regime is obviously to polish and tone.  I prefer this liquid toner to the wet wipes in the range as it leaves my skin feeling ultra clean and super refreshed. Again I just pour some of this onto some cotton pads and sweep over my face and neck.
Treat - Kind To Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll-On:  I have never tried an eye roll-on before so I was immediately drawn to this product.  Once my skin is bear, I roll this underneath my eyes and temples and it leaves me feeling seriously cool and awake.  This is a treat to use in the morning and if you’re feeling sluggish. Also in the range is an eye-makeup pen corrector which I know will be popular to many gals!
Protect – Kind To Skin+ Illuminating Radiance Cream:  I think it’s the change in the weather but I’m having a pretty hard time making my skin look anything other than dull and dreary recently, but this does a great job of adding more liveliness back into my face.  This is a moisturising cream (with SPF15, awesome) which contains tiny illuminating particles which adds a beautiful radiance to my skin.  I have also tried mixing a pump of this cream with my foundation which creates a gorgeous light coverage, dewy effect.
I say: Overall I really adore Simple.  I think they’ve upped their game recently by creating new unique products (such as the eye makeup corrector pen which I’m sure I’ll review on my blog soon) which are really affordable, easy to get hold of and do a great job. Thumbs up from me!

Rimmel Launches–A/W 2013!

I recently attended an event where I previewed what Rimmel has coming up for us gals this Autumn/Winter!  I thought I’d do a summary post on the new products, and then delve into some bigger, more in-depth reviews with swatches to follow this up!

new rimmel launches autumn winter
rimmel eyeshadows
rimmel lipstick aw
rimmel launches

Glam Eyes HD Eye Shadow: I’m a sucker for a good eyeshadow palette… or 4!  There are 4 of these HD palettes available each with a selection of wearable shades for every occasion.  These can be used wet for an intense look (just dampen your eyeshadow brush slightly) or dry for a more soft subtle effect.  I love the deep berry shade in the ‘Pinkadilly Circus’ Palette; right on trend for this season.

Moisture Renew Lipstick: 10 new lipsticks are being launched, this time with an upgraded formula which means more pigment and more moisturizing.  The shade range is gorgeous and contains everything from a nude, to berry to a red.  My favourite is ‘Let’s Get Naked’ which is a natural tea rose pink which compliments my pale skin perfectly.

Lasting Finish Colour Rush Lip Balm: Pigmented lip balms have been all over the highstreet recently and Rimmel have jumped on the bandwagon, launching 7 sticks of goodness.  These are really easy to use and give a nice sweep of colour to any look.  They will retail at £5.99.

Scandaleyes Retro Glam Extreme Black Mascara: I haven’t yet tried this mascara (I have such a backlog of ones I want to review) but by the looks of it it’ll be impressive.  The brush is super thick and the colour is an intense black which aims to create a dramatic 60’s eye look!

Stay Blushed Liquid Cheek Tint: Rimmel have launched their first liquid blushers in two gorgeous shades; Sunkissed Cherry & Pop of Pink, both cream formulas which dry as a powder on the skin.  This little tubes are adorable and really easy to blend in with fingers or a brush.

All of these products should be in Boots & Superdrug stores now so go and have a gander if you fancy!  If you would like more in depth reviews of anything featured in this post then just let me know!

Will you be picking any of these products up?

Lifestyle: VANS Warped Tour!

Now it’s not something I jump and scream about online especially, but deep down I am a massive emo/grunge/scene kid. I think I have quite a unique music taste, ranging from Britney to Einaudi to The Smiths to Korn, for example. My whole teenage years (well, from 15-19) were spent parading around London with friends going to gigs, dancing the night away to heavy, loud music and coating my eyes in as much black eyeliner as possible.

I still listen to my old favourites (in fact I have an ‘old favs’ playlist on Spotify which you can have a look at here – KATIE'S OLD FAVOURITES PLAYLIST) and occasionally see them gig, but when my boyfriend Andrew was asked to DJ at Vans Warped Tour, my inner 15 year old made her appearance all over again!

I thought I’d write a blog post about the tour as I had the MOST incredible weekend and loved every minute of it.

Andrew was Dj-ing for the professional skate & BMX demos which were on the Jaegermeister stage half pipe. This meant that we had Access All Areas wristbands which we fully took advantage of; we went backstage to watch some of our favourite bands play (Billy Talent, Coheed & Cambria and my friend Jack’s band, We Are the Ocean).

Billy Talent were just incredible. I realized whilst watching them that I have actually loved them for 10 years now and know every single lyric from the first album off by heart. Coheed and Cambria similarly were massively nostalgic and it was incredible to watch them perform so up close (it was the first time I’d seen them live since I was 15).  The skaters also blew my mind. It was amazing to see people so passionate and incredible at their job/hobby (I know want to learn how to skate)!

You can watch Andrew’s vlog of the weekend here!  It’s quite a giggle and gives you a hint of what we got up to.

Andrew’s Warped Tour Vlog!

Weekend Highlights:

* Endless amounts of free jaegerbombs!
* Eating in the band canteen with my teenage heros
* Climbing to the top of the half pipe & getting stuck
* Spending quality time with my fav blue haired babe, Zoe
* Dancing to the amazing tunes Andrew played whilst watching skaters do their thang.
* Watching bands at the side of the stages

I’d like to say a massive thanks to my pretty amazing boyfriend for asking me to join him at the weekend; it could not have been any more perfect! I actually said to him on Sunday evening that I didn’t want to go back to reality.

Did you used to love a bit of rock and embrace your inner grunger?  What’s your favourite festival?

Magnifibres Lash Review–before & after!

$

The thought of putting fibres anywhere near my eyes used to terrify me (I’m really squeamish when it comes to eye-balls & have only recently mastered using eye drops).  That was until I heard about this rather unique beauty product…

magnifibres1magnifibres2MAGNIFIBRES BEFORE AND AFTER2

I should start off by saying that I despise wearing false eyelashes; they itch, it takes ages to learn how to apply and perfect them and they are generally uncomfortable so when I heard about Magnifibres I was intrigued.  I adore having long eyelashes and have tried multiple lash growth products in the past (none with miraculous results).

The idea of Magnifibres is that they build up a layer of ‘fibres’ for your mascara to latch onto, leaving you with long, lengthy lashes.  To use, you apply a coat of your usual mascara and whilst still wet, sweep some of the fibres straight on to your lashes.  Leave them to sit for a minute and the apply another coating of your mascara and voila – you have sultry lashes to flutter away!

It took a while to get used to these and I’ve found that some mascaras work better than others but now I adore them and use it most days!  I can also say that I’ve experienced no itching or flake-iness with these either, making them a pleasure to use!

Would you try Magnifibres? What’s your favourite lash lengthening product?

FASHION: My first Lookbook video–a/w party!

Us girls in the office were talking about YouTube Lookbooks one day last week and I remarked that I’d love to do one, but honestly think I’m one of the most unfashionable people alive and so I couldn’t possibly.  However, my very lovely workmates said I should try one and so I swiftly texting my boyfriend asking if he wanted to help me film an a/w lookbook at the weekend.

I can tell you now, I am SO glad that I did.  I had so much fun creating this video; despite the freezing cold weather and not being able to feel my fingers or ears at the end of it, I’m incredibly proud and happy with this little video.  Massive, huge thanks to my gorgeous boyfriend who filmed this for me.  It was his first time filming with my hefty camera but he did an incredible job.  Also – the music in the video is really important.  It’s called Daylight and it’s by my boyfriend’s band, Whisky Jax.  The song is set to be a single released soon but they let me use it for this video and it just fits perfectly.  I urge you all to check them out (links at the bottom of this post)!

Without further ado, here are some images from the shoot!

Spafinder: Casa Spa Review!

$

Being a girl, one of my favourite things to do is get pampered, obviously! This can be at home; bubble baths, nail painting & playing with makeup, but I think lots of people forget about the real treat that are spas!  Visiting a spa and having a treatment is a rare occurrence for me, I probably have 3 a year, max and so I really cherish and look forward to them! I actually think that spa vouchers & pamper treatments make wonderful gifts; if I was booked in for a massage by a friend for my birthday or given a spa voucher I would feel like a proper princess.

I was recently contacted by Spa Finder and asked whether I wanted to use their website to book a treatment and I obviously accepted the offer. After browsing the masses of incredible spas available I settled upon visiting Casa Spa for a Hammam Experience for 2! I decided that my hard-working boyfriend deserved a pamper too and so a couples experience would be ideal and booked the treatment from the website using a voucher.

CASASPA1casaspa2
casa-spa2-1024x700

I’ll tell you straight off; Casa Spa was an absolute JOY to experience. We had the best couple of hours there, there were giggles (being scrubbed down and massaged), screams (cold water was chucked over us after being in the steam room for 15 minutes) and we both felt ridiculously soft in the end.  After the Hammam experience we were given dressing gowns to relax in, in the gorgeous Moroccan themed room (above) and were served mint tea & fruit whilst we relaxed.  This was followed by a full body massage which completely loosened me up.  Needless to say I slept like a baby that evening.

Andrew says:  I am not ashamed at all to admit that I am from the school of thought whereby a day spa congers an image somewhere between the surreal Derek Zoolander experience and the vision of misadventure that is Sean Connery as James Bond in Thunderball. So armed with my spa v-plates and severely warped anticipation I made my way with Katie to The Casa Spa in Edgware.

From start to finish the entire experience (albeit not being brain washed to kill the Malaysian Prime Minister nor being confronted by covert assassins) was amazing. Having opted for the 'Humman for Two' this started with a full and informative explanation of what treatments were to be expected and after a swift change into swimwear and a towel it was in to the steam room. Each step after this was professionally and expertly executed by the staff from the oil treatment to full body mud mask. Complimentary tea, fruit and sweets were a really pleasant touch in the post treatment relaxation area. The evening was rounded off beautifully by a full body couple's massage for me and Katie.

Full marks to the staff, spa and experience, though top tip for when you visit; when fastening the locker key to your swimwear, watch that your ass doesn't get in the way of the pin and take clothing suitable for an espionage mission should the occasion arise! Bx

Katie:Spa vouchers trips make incredible gifts for partners (perfect for Christmas in my opinion) as it gives you both the chance to relax and get a little bit closer as well. It was Andrew’s first spa & massage (ever!) and he thoroughly enjoyed it, we’re even planning our next spa adventure now! The Spafinder website is full of great treatments and vouchers that can be redeemed in many spas so have a gander! Vouchers available here - http://www.spafinder.co.uk/gift-vouchers

How often do you visit a spa?  What treatment would you have?

Please note I was offered the treatment free of charge but was not paid to write this review. I would happily and will be paying for this treatment again!

Look of the Day–CKone Eyeshadows!

I’ve started getting into the habit of photographing the makeup I’m wearing daily for the blog.  I’m pretty good with my makeup and do tend to switch things up on a regular basis, making sure I make the most out of the products I own (for example I tend to wear a different foundation, powder, mascara daily)!  This is one of the looks I’ve worn recently, using two new CK one eyeshadows!

CKONE LOOK OF THE DAY1CKONE LOOK OF THE DAY2CKONE LOOK OF THE DAY

This look is really simple and easy to do.  It just consists of running the palest shade (Ambitious) all over the eye, right up to the brow bone and then blending the darker shade (Fearless) into the crease of the eye to add a touch of colour & smokyness and to open the eyes up.  Then I applied the usual liquid liner flick on the top lash line and smudged kohl pencil under the lower lash line (using two products from the L’Oreal Superline range) and finished the look with lashings of mascara (I used a Chanel one I’ve just got my hands on)!

This is the basic look that I wear most days to work but just switch up the products I use to create it!  The CK one shadows are available from Debenhams for £12 a pop and they have the most gorgeous colour range available.  The ones I’ve tried are super pigmented and can be used wet or dry for a subtle or more striking look!

Do you switch up your products on a daily basis? Would you like to see more daily looks?

Naked 3 Palette –Review & Swatches!

Ever since the first launch in 2010, the Urban Decay Naked Palette has definitely become somewhat of a craze in the beauty world. It’s not surprising as they are beautiful palettes packed with 12 stunning neutral based shades which can be used to create a variety of looks  Naked 3 has just launched and I was lucky enough to get my hands on one before they make their appearance in stores on 16th December.
Read on for my full thoughts and swatches!

NAKED PALETTE 3 SWATCHESNAKED 3 SWATCHES 2
NAKED SWATCHES 1

My favourites on first glance are Strange, Mooner, Mugshot, Darkside & Blackheart.  Strange is a matte cream white shade which makes the perfect base for all eyeshadow looks and Mooner is another matte brown which a pinkish tinge which looks stunning in the crease of the eye.  Mugshot and Darkside are stunning shimmers which when paired with Blackheart makes the ultimate smokey eye.

This palette has a rose tinted theme (the first palette was warm tones, the second cool) so this perfectly suits tan and bronze skin tones. I have never been one to particularly love pinkish toned eyeshadows  for my pale skin but this palette really surprised me and I keep finding myself picking it up instead of my other palettes.  The shadows themselves are gorgeous, creamy powders with great pigment which means you can really experiment with blending and coupling colours together. I’m going to be creating a few different looks with this palette over the weeks to come so let me know if you’d like to see them!

The palette is available from tomorrow - 16th December in Debenhams, House of Fraser and Urban Decay online stockists for £37, but I have a feeling they might sell out quickly so act fast to get one!

Are you dribbling over this? What’s your favourite Naked palette?

(REALLY) Last Minute Christmas Gifts!

$

0

So, you have one day left to do your Christmas shopping.  Talk about last minute or what?!  I'll admit I have in the past left it this late before to run out and get some last minute treats but I thought I'd pop together a tiny selection of really easy gifts.

IMG_3547IMG_3550
IMG_3556

Firstly, The Body Shop is one of my favourite places on the high-street for last minute gifts for beauty lovers.  I actually worked in The Body Shop for 5 years and Christmas was always my favourite time as their limited edition Xmas ranges are divine (Spiced Vanilla, Ginger and Cranberry to be exact).  This gingerbread house of miniature body products is super affordable (at £12) and ideal for any gal who likes a pamper.

Barry M have just started creating makeup palettes which would also make a great gift for the younger girl.  I have a neutral shaded palette which contains 6 eyeshadows and a blusher, complete with a mirror and brush for £6.49 – and available on the highstreet.  You also can't go wrong with candles for Xmas.   I have recently developed a thing for Yankee candles, especially the Christmas smells, so I picked up 'Fireside Treats' as a gift from a Hallmarks store the other day.  It was 20% off Yankee so I think I paid £12 for this - it smells delicious and I'm tempted to keep it for myself.  Rituals also have a festive smelling reed diffuser available named ‘Spices from the East’, which is ideal for the slightly older lady.  Simply pop the reed sticks in the top and turn them over every day or so for a new burst of smells!  This retails at around £25 and can be found in selected John Lewis & House of Fraser stores around the UK.

Something quite new out on the market is the Braun Skin Spa epilator, which has two heads; one to epilate and one to exfoliate with (double whammy).  This retails at £99 in Boots stores and is great for a last minute gift.  I will be doing a full review on this very soon!  I've also popped a Moroccan Oil miniatures set into this post as I personally would have adored this as a gift.  I got mine from HQ Hair for a discounted price of £18.65, (usually worth £26.65, link here!)  but they are also available in selected hairdresser stores.

Failing all of this, a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates/ bunch of flowers never fails - (or you can just treat yourselves to these little bits with any Xmas money)!

I'm sorry this post is so late - ideally I would have liked it up last weekend but things have been so hectic here that it slipped.  A new years resolution of mine this year is to become better at organising my blogging time - less time faffing; more time writing!

Have you done all of your Christmas shopping?

My Bedroom–Room Tour!

Ever since posting about my makeup storage video (here) I have been asked SO many times to do a ‘room tour’ video and blog post!  Now, I love the idea of this because I adore looking at interiors and people’s personal spaces, but I have a confession… I’m a bit of a hoarder!

I HATE throwing stuff away and will keep everything.  I’m very sentimental and also get worried a lot that I’ll chuck something out and then need it later.  Because of this, my bedroom is a tiny kind of hobbit’s den.  With its slanted ceiling and box shape, along with so much of my stuff, it can get very cramped, but I prefer to think of it as ‘homely’!

I’ll leave you with some pictures of the good parts of my room (the tidy parts) so you can get a feel for the atmosphere!

SMALL STORAGEBEDROOM
STORAGE 2room tour 4
As you can see I have A LOT of stuff on my desk!  My desk is from the 18th century and I ADORE it!  It was a present from my parents, who got it on ebay!  It has lots of drawers (and also a secret compartment).

room tour 6
This is where you can see the full extent of my hoarding!  I love keep old dried up roses given to me (by past lovers, my parents etc), empty beer bottles from good times, a few little ornaments and a perfume bottle I picked up from Morrocco a few years back.

room tour 5
My nail polish rack, also from eBay.  I have a lot more polishes but these are the ones I like having on display.

PRODUCTS TO REVIEW
I got these two suitcases from a  shop in Romford called Home Sense.  They are filled with products I need to review!

DRAWERS
I have a little cubby hole in my wall where I keep some more makeup storage.  Sorry about how messy the above is!

So there are a few pictures!  I haven’t shown you my little bookcase, photo wall or where I keep all of my perfumes but I will do maybe at a later date!  I hope you’ve enjoyed a little sneak peek into my little bedroom!

What’s your bedroom like? Do you hate throwing things away too or are you tidy and organised?

2013 Round Up & New Year Resolutions!

$
0
0

Well… it’s 2014!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas & New Years Eve with your loved ones.

This is my usual past year round up post with a few of my New Years Resolutions attached.  You can read last year’s round up post here– I think I actually succeeded in most of last year’s resolutions so here’s to hoping that this year is the same.

The last photographs of me in 2013.

Resolutions
1) Less ‘What ifs, more what’s happening now’.
I have mentioned before about how much of a worrier I am and can often lay awake at night thinking about all the what if’s that could happen in the future.  I’m sad to admit that they have often stopped me enjoying what is actually happening there and then… for example if someone incredible came into my life, I’d spend more time worrying about ‘what if I loose them’ rather than enjoying and making the most of having them in my life.  I really want to appreciate and seize every moment and so I must stop worrying and what if-ing!

2) Don’t expect too much
This is quite a deep one, but I’m hoping it will make my life a lot more positive.  I am terrible at getting my hopes up and expecting the best of people, which has meant that in the past I have often been let down (this really mostly relates to 2012).  I’ve come to realize that people do forget promises & let you down, but if you don’t expect anything in the first place, you’re much less likely to get hurt.  Plus, when something incredible does happen, it will feel even more special and you’ll be much more grateful that it does… if that makes sense?

3) Record everything!
Again, a resolution I make every year but break but this year I MUST make more notes and write down more memories in 2014.  I’m going to try and stick to the idea of: writing down good memories on a little piece of paper and putting them in a jar.  At the end of the year I’ll get them out and read them to remember all the great things that happened!

4) Move out.
It’s time for me to move back out of home (after living with my parents ever since I left university two years ago).  I am really lucky to have the most incredible family ever, we are very close and I’ll miss them terribly but I’m sure they’re getting fed up with my mess, my washing & feeding me now so I want to pack my bags and move back to Central!

Highlights
2013 in a nutshell was possibly my favourite year yet and mainly because of one person who came into my life when I was least expecting it.  This is perhaps going to be the cheesiest thing ever written on my blog; but I have never felt love like this until 2013.  I am with someone who makes me feel like the most special person on the planet.  He makes me feel beautiful, smart and kind and I have laughed more in the past 7 months than I had in the whole of 2012.  Thank you Andrew for making me, me again.

Last year was also the year of career for me.  I was offered a permanent job in January after interning for a company I adored and being a part of Gleam has been one of my biggest achievements to date.  I can’t put in to words how lucky I am to have a job that I love and enjoy; there has never been a day where I’ve dreaded going into the office and the opportunities it has given me has been unreal.
  • Going to countless film premiers, screenings and parties
  • Helping Tanya with her makeup range (#TanyasLips&Nails) which launches January 30th

  • Working with a great team of people whose company I cherish
Music has been really important to me throughout 2013 and I have discovered some mind-blowing tunes which mean the world to me now (it’s so hard to resist the temptation to get lyrics tattooed all over me).  Musical highlights of the year have to be Josef Salvat (This Life makes me cry tears and his charisma live makes me swoon), Little Comets & Aluna George (the soundtracks to my summer), Alt-J and Half Moon Run whose songs make me so calm and content.

I gave Andrew (who is also a DJ) a list of my favourite songs released in 2013 and he created a ‘mini-mix’ of them together for my blog (I did tell you he was a babe!!) so you can listen to my favourite songs of the past year here!  Let me know if you enjoy it. (There are also 1000 free downloads available if you want to keep it!)

Finally, my final achievement of 2013 was my YouTube channel.  I started uploading regularly in May last year and since then I have gained 20,000 subscribers which blows my mind!  Filming and creating videos has become a real passion of mine and it feels unbelievable to have that work pay off in the form of views, and so thank you if you have subscribed!

So there we have it.  Sorry for the lengthy post; if you have made it this far then I adore you and it means the world to me.   Like I said last year, this blog has been the most consistent thing over the past four years and I couldn’t imagine it not being a part of my life.  Working full time, starting making regular YouTube content and falling in love definitely meant that my blog took a bit of a backseat and I’m so sorry for that (I do feel incredibly guilty about it) and I’m eager to make it up this year with lots of new posts and content, which I really hope you stick around for.  Your support means the world to me.  Thank you!

2013 Favourites: Face & Base Products!

At the start of every year I try and write a list of my favourite products from the last.  I'm not gonna lie - it's a difficult job as I'm the world's worst decision maker and have so many favourite products so this took me a while to get together, but it's finally here!

I've decided to spilt my favourites into 5 categories; hair, skin, face, lips & eyes and have chosen 5 of my favourite products in each category.  So first up, Face & Base!

Nars Sheer Glow: I honestly can’t remember what I foundation I used before this came into my life.  I wear the shade Siberia which took me ages to hunt down as it’s the palest shade and seemed to be sold out in all stores, but I haven’t stopped wearing it since I got my hands on it.  It gives me the most even complexion and isn’t heavy at all, despite being medium coverage.  You can read my full review on this foundation with before and after pictures here - Nars Sheer Glow Review!

Collection Concealer: This is the best concealer I have ever used. End of.  For under £5 this does an incredible job of hiding even the nastiest of spots.  I have been through about 6 tubes of this in 2013 and predict will get through many more in 2014.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: This powder does a great job for under £3.  It mattifies my skin and is really easy to find on the highstreet.  Only negative is that it doesn’t include a mirror!

MAC Melba Blusher:  I have had this blusher for an awfully long time now but 2013 saw it being dusted off and making a regular appearance in my makeup bag.  This shade suits my pale skin perfectly and leaves me looking delightfully blushed!

Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow:  I had my eye on this for a long time before I finally took the plunge and added it to my Illamasqua online basket.  As a cream pigment, it can be used in a variety of ways but I like to use it to contour my cheekbones.  It’s a buildable cream and can also be used as an eyeshadow base.  Thumbs up from me!

I'll be posting the rest of my favourites over the course of the next week and will be posting a video on my channel also, so stay tuned to see my other top picks!

2013 Favourites: Hair Care!

Next up in my 2013 Favourites Series is haircare!  I feel like 2013 was the year of really discovering what kind of products work for my insanely thick, long hair and I've discovered some firm favourites which I can see lasting well into the future.  Read on for more info!

Timotei’s Brilliant Repair Range: 2013 was the year of re-discovering Timotei.  I remember my Dad using Timotei when I was growing up but it has since been re-launched and the products are bloomin’ brilliant.  The Pure & Brilliant Repair ranges are super affordable, smell great and leave my hair feeling so soft and clean.

Bumble & Bumble’s Invisible Oil: I am a massive fan of hair oils and use them straight after I wash my hair to help comb through and add softness.  After a lot of experimenting I’ve decided this one is my favourite.  It is light enough for daily use, smells unbelievably good and will last me forever.

Macadamia’s Hair Mask: This is my favourite hair mask for the second year running, meaning it’s a good’un.  I can’t describe how soft this leaves my hair.  It's a little pricey at around £25 a tub, but I adore it and am about to repurchase soon!

Batiste Dry Shampoo: Another familiar favourite, I simply could not live without Batiste.  I always have one (or three!) bottles on the go at one time as it does the best job of disguising any greasy roots.

Enrapture Totem Styler:  Hair tool of the year goes to this baby.  There was actually a period in 2013 where I used this for every hairstyle for 2 months.  It leaves me with the most perfect curls which you can see examples here!  I think this really is the best hair curler around and would recommend it to anybody!

Stay tuned for the next post in my 2013 favourites series...

2013 Favourites: Skin!

This is the third post in my 2013 Favourites series!  This time it's skin; 2013 was a pretty bad year for my skin and in March I went to my doctor about how bad it was and he gave me medication for it.  Since then my skin has been a lot better but I still get the occasional spot.  Anyway, enough rambling, read on to see why these made my Top 5!

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser: At my doctors appointment, he recommended to use Cetaphil face wash & moisturizer alongside the treatment.  I have been using them both ever since and really love the products.  They are really simple and not fancy at all but they work nicely to keep my skin in order!  They aren't the cheapish products available at around £12 each but I've already repurchased this cleanser twice as I love it!

Kiehls Midnight Recovery: This is one of my favourite skincare discoveries to date.  I’ve never really been one for serums or oils but it all changed once I found this.  I use this only once a week but it really does make a difference.  I apply a few drops before bed when my skin needs some TLC and when I wake up my skin is plump and glowing.  I adore this!

Quinoderm:  If you suffer from bad skin, I thoroughly recommend Quinoderm which you can purchase from behind the counter at pharmacies for a couple of pounds.  Apply it to the affected area before bed and it really helps to keep skin clear and dry out any blemishes.  My whole family use this now; dad included!

Kiehls Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50: I can’t express how important it is to wear SPF daily to protect your skin from UVA/B rays and this has been my favourite of the year.  For a really high factor, this is light, sinks in nicely and doesn’t leave my skin tacky or sticky.  I will continue to repurchase this as it’s splendid and lasts a surprisingly long time.

Epiduo: I was unsure of whether to include this product in this post as it was prescribed to my by my doctor and as far as I’m aware can only be gained with prescription, but I have used it daily since getting it and it has worked wonders on my blemished skin.  This really keeps my skin looking clear and I never want to run out!

Next up in my 2013 is eyes... stay tuned!

2013 Favourites: Lips!

Another really difficult category for me being as I have so many lipsticks which I love and adore.  They may look a little similar in the photographs below but I assure you they are different!!

Sleek’s Barely There Lipstick: I’ve mentioned this lipstick so many times on my blog and YouTube channel before because it’s my favourite lipstick of all time.  It’s peachy, pink, nude tones compliment my skintone, giving me enough colour for daily wear.  This retails at under £5 as well which is so affordable. I hope they never, ever discontinue this.

MAC’s Sushi Kiss Lipstick: I own way too many orangey peach lipsticks but this is my favourite. It was released in the Orange MAC collection early in the year and my good friend Emma picked it up for me as it sold out so quickly!  This is a vibrant shade and doesn’t go with all outfits so when I wear it I tend to dab it on lightly over lipbalm!

MAC’s Morange Lipstick: This has been my go-to red lipstick for the past two years; If I EVER want to wear a red it’ll be this.  Again, it’s a super vibrant orange based red but it’s super pigmented and smells delicious.

Kiko Glow Touch in Ginger Twist: This is practically the same as Sleek’s Barely There but in pot form which can be used on either lips or cheeks for a healthy glow.  Again, this smells delicious and is really pigmented for a balm so I suspect it’ll last me forever.

Rimmel Apocalips in Luna: Rimmel launched their Apocalips’ in 2012 and they have carried on being a joy to wear throughout 2013.  Luna is my favourite of the original bunch (they have just added 4 new shades to the range – blog post coming soon) and that’s right, you guessed it, it’s another peach!  Full review with swatches here – link.

There we have it for lips - stay tuned for the final post of my 2013 favourites, coming up tomorrow: eyes!

2013 Favourites - Eyes!

If you’re a regular reader of my blog then you will know that not a day that goes by that I don’t wear smokey eyes.  I’m all about the eyes and think without eyeliner, mascara and eyeshadow I just don’t feel like myself.  Therefore, eye products are super important to me and so choosing my favourites was difficult.  I’ve cheated slightly and gone over by two product, opps! Forgive me!

HD Brows Kit: There hasn’t been a day that’s gone by in the past two years where I haven’t used this product.  Not only is the taupe brown shade perfect for my eyebrows, but they all make incredible eye shadows which I used daily.  This is my holy grail palette which I will continue to forever repurchase!

YSL Babydoll Mascara: A friend gave me this mascara after saying that she couldn’t use it as the fragrance is too heavy and irritated her eyes, but I adore it!  This gives me longest lashes, it’s fully worth the expensive price tag.

Magnifibres: Forever on the quest for an alternative to falsies which I hate, I’ve discovered magnifibres.  You can read my full blog post here– where you can see how it works and just why I love it!

L’Oreal Superliner: Another new find this year.  Are you probably know I wear liquid or gel liner daily and this has become my favourite.  It's nib is very fine which allows me to create the most perfect, intricate flicks.

Urban Decay Shadow in Desperation: With so many palettes that I call my favourite, it’s very rare for me to love an individual eye shadow nowadays. However, (along with MAC’s Nylon, my favourite base shadow) this has been a permanent fixture in my makeup bag.  It’s colour is almost identical to the taupe-grey in the HD Brows palette (with a little more pigment) and I’ve been using it loads to create my signature smokey eye.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Liner: I’m never seen without a dark shade lining my waterline (to the point that a friend actually asked me if my tearducts ever get blocked… if you’re wondering, no, they don’t)! My favourite kohl of 2013 is the Rimmel Scandaleyes in Black.  These pencils are available in a great variety of shades, they are creamy and pigmented which means they don’t tug on your eyes when applying and they last well also!

Bobbi Brown Cool Tones Palette: I discovered and fell in love with Bobbi Brown palettes this year.  After the launch of their incredibly popular Chocolate palette (review here and here), I got my hands on this Cool Toned palette from their Winter collection which contains 6 of the most stunning, matte & shimmery neutral shades.  I ADORE this and love using it. Also perfect for travelling!

There we have it!  The final of my 2013 Beauty Favourites.  I really hope you've enjoyed this mini series.  It's been absolutely wonderful reading your comments and hearing what your favourite products have been too.  I really appreciate every comment I receive on this blog so thank you!

I also filmed a video on my 2013 favourites if you're interested in watching that too!

When the Envy collection from Illamasqua landed on my doorstep in December it felt like Christmas had come early.  Since then I have loved and cherished each product from this collection and so wanted to share them with you.

ILLAMASQUA 1ILLAMASQUA PALETTE ENVY SWATCHILLAMASQUA BLIZZARDILLAMASQUA CONTOURIMG_3006ILLASMAQYA 2

Fatale Palette £34– Containing 4 powder shadows, this is Christmas in a palette. The deep cranberry, purple shades work stunningly with the golden and brown to create the most intense winter smokey eye. These shadows are intensely pigmented and great quality as all Illamasqua shadows are!

Nail Varnish in Blizzard £14.50 - I've worn this multiple times already since getting it, layering it atop of other darker polishes (I paired it with a classic red for Christmas day!) and it's really pretty.  It's a clear base which contains small freckles of creamy white specs which resembles snow on the nails.

Sculpting Powder Duo £26 – As soon as I opened the box this went straight into my makeup bag. The blush duo contains two shades; a neutral brown shade for contouring and sculpting and a neutral golden for adding a bit of highlight and definition. These powders are very finely milled and pigmented meaning the tinest bit of product gives you gorgeous definition.  I can not get enough of this product - it's my favourite of the range, compliments my pale skin perfectly and makes me cheekbones look amazing!

Intense Lipgloss in Maiden £14.50 - You guys know I'm not one for nail polishes but this shade is utterly perfect.  It's a creamy, peach toned pink nude which looks lovely and natural over any lipstick or on it's own.

From what I can see, the range is still available in stores and on the Illamasqua website: LINK!  Do let me know if you have any of these products and how you like to use them!

REVIEW & SWATCHES: Revlon Colourburst Matte Balms!

I was recently invited to the launch of Revlon’s new lip products and being a lipstick queen, I had to attend!  Now I’m really, really excited about these products so I’m going to skip all the small talk and get straight into the photographs!

L-R Elusive, Unapologetic, Shameless, Showy, Sultry, Complex, Mischievous, Striking, Audacious, Standout

I definitely favour matte to sheer in most aspects, especially when it comes to lip products so I was practically squealing when I spotted the matte casing of these balms, in the most beautiful array of shades ever!

These products are super pigmented and have a minty taste & scent once applied.  Some of the lighter shades can emphasize dry patches on the lips so be sure to coat them in lip balm to get them up to scratch beforehand. They wear well and the packaging is gorgeously chic and simple; I adore having these in my makeup bag!

My favourites are:
- Complex: a caramel nude which suits my pale skin gorgeously (despite being prone to show chapped lips)
- Mischevous: (probably my favourite out of the lot) which stood out to me initially for it's peachy orange.
- Audacious: a bright, orange toned red (this was the first one I wore because it reminded me of MAC's Morange, my favourite red lip shade)
- Standout: a super vampy, mature red with a hint of berry!

Good news is they launch in Boots stores TODAY (and in Superdrug from Feb 18th) for £7.99 each so go and check them out if they look up your street; I promise it’ll be well worth it!

Will you be picking any of these up? Which shades are your favourites?
